Debao Formation

Debao Fm

Period:
Devonian

Age Interval:
D13, (new 18), late Emsian (late Early Devonian)

Province:
Guangxi

Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at near Duowen Village, Qinjia of Yandong Town, 40 km southeast of Debao County. The name was proposed by Wu Y. and Yan C.X. in 1980 and is redefined here including the origional Duowen Mbr of Qinjia Fm and Duobang Mbr of Debao Fm because of their similar lithological features

Lithology and Thickness

The formation includes two members: A lower Duowen Mbr, 50 m thick, is characterized by dark grayish thin to medium thick bedded argillaceous limestones with siliceous bands; and a higher Duobang Mbr, 126.18 m thick, consists of thin to medium-bedded argillaceous limestone with siliceous bands, siliceous limestones with siliceous nodules or lenses, detrital limestones intrercalated with medium bedded dolomitic and cherty limestones. Horizontal beddings and sliding structures are commonly developed.

Lithology Pattern:
Siliceous limestone
